Stamford Anti-Racism Group event offers insight into the lives of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people

An insight into the lives of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people was given to a Stamford group which aims to tackle and put an end to racism.
Stamford Anti-Racism Group hosted an online discussion with guest Ollie Malik, 16, a Roma actor and activist who has featured in the BBC young reporter podcast.
Nicola Muer, a Romani member of Stamford Anti-Racism Group who is a student and human rights volunteer, also contributed.

The event co-ordinator, Yvette Diaz-Munoz, said: âThere is so much negative portrayal of the gypsy, Roma and traveller community, particularly in the press and on social media.
Lowest paid South Kesteven District Council staff to receive Real Living Wage pay increase

South Kesteven District Councilâs lowest paid employees will see their pay increase to £9.50 an hour.
Councillor Louise Clack called for an amendment to SKDCâs 2021/22 budget to include payment of the âReal Living Wageâ to the councilâs lowest paid staff.
She asked council members to support the recommendation to raise all pay at SKDC to a minimum of £9.50 an hour as a small gesture of thanks on behalf of all members given the hard work and dedication demonstrated by council staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.

PharMIbridge RCT training for pharmacists in regional Victoria
Training for regional Victorian pharmacists involved in the Bridging the Gap between Physical and Mental Illness in Community Pharmacy (PharMIbridge) Randomised Control Trial (RCT) was held in Melbourne on 8th & 9th February 2021.
The PharMIbridge RCT is a collaboration between The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, Griffith University and The University of Sydney. The RCT is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health as part of the Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement.

Mayor of Stamford William Turner has died following a battle with cancer.
Coun Turner, known as Bill, was at home with his family when he passed away peacefully yesterday (Thursday, February 4).

Coun Turner was an Independent councillor who represented residents of St George s Ward. He was active on several committees and chaired meetings of the full town council until the end of last year.
Fellow Independent councillor Bob Sandall described Coun Turner s death as a sad day for the town. Bill had a difficult job, taking over after poor Maxine had died and chairing the meetings via computer rather than in the council chamber, but he did it well.
