Daughter-in-law shot at UP chairman’s home in Noakhali’s Begumganj Star Online Report Star Online Report
The daughter-in-law of Noakhali s Begumganj Upazila Parishad chairman Shahnaz Begum was injured after being shot at their residence this afternoon.
Subarna Haque is now undergoing treatment at Noakhali General Hospital with injuries, said Dr Nurul Islam, a surgeon of the hospital.
The 28-year-old suffered injury in her left foot, our Noakhali correspondent reports, quoting the physician.
The incident happened at the Upazila Parishad chairman s home in Hajipur Dakhkhin Bazar area around 2pm when voting of Chowmuhoni municipality election was underway.
Talking to reporters, victim s mother-in-law Shahnaz said Subarna was shot while drinking tea in the living room around 2pm. She had returned home after casting vote.

As the call for scrapping the Digital Security Act grows after the death in jail of writer Mushtaq Ahmed, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud says repealing the law will mean other laws have to be scrapped as well when people arrested under those laws die. Are you satisfied with his argument?
