Massillon woman who had been missing for 2 days found dead

Updated: 10:02 PM EST March 7, 2021 STARK COUNTY, Ohio A Massillon woman who suffered from Alzheimer s disease has been found dead two days after being reported missing, police confirm. Authorities in Jackson Township located the body of 64-year-old Jane McClelland around 7:39 a.m. Sunday behind a large snowbank near Stark State College. She had been picked up Friday afternoon for The Laurels on Sherman Circle Northeast for a dental appointment before eventually being dropped off at Giant Eagle near the Strip. McClelland s death remains under investigation. Officials do not suspect foul play. Related Articles

Woman found dead on snowbank walked from nearby stores, police say

JACKSON TWP.   Investigators continue to trace the path of a Massillon nursing home resident who died after leaving for a dental appointment Friday. Authorities believe no foul play was involved in the death of Jane L. McClelland, township Police Chief Mark Brink said Monday, adding that they continue to investigate and to await the results of a Stark County Coroner s Office autopsy. McClelland, 64, who authorities said suffered from Alzheimer s, went missing and was found dead Sunday morning in a snowbank near The Strip shopping center. She was a resident of The Laurels of Massillon. In a news release from the nursing facility on Monday morning, Hayley Simpson, regional director of operations for the Laurel Health Care Co., wrote that on Friday, McClelland went on a leave of absence to attend a personal appointment. The resident independently scheduled the appointment with their provider, arranged transportation, and was appropriately checked out by staff upon their departu

RTC Fitness offers well-rounded path to health

The Suburbanite JACKSON TWP. “You’ve got this” is proudly displayed on the home page of the RTC Fitness Co., which is located in the building of the Stark State Campus that used to house the Fuel Cell Research Center of Stark State. The center has been occupying the space since the spring of 2019.  RTC Fitness is owned and operated by Allison Sholley, a level two trainer and nutrition coach. Sholley said she decided to open the gym when returning to the area after she graduated with a business degree from the University of Colorado.  “I came home from college and didn’t know what I wanted to do,” Sholley said. “One day my brother asked me to go his gym with him. I was 22 years old at the time 30 pounds overweight, so I went and from that first day I was hooked. I started going to the gym five days a week. But I thought there had to be a better way to go to they gym than spending $125 a month on membership.”
