Nair guilty in the solar cheating case. Magistrate K.K. Nimmi will pronounce the quantum of punishment later in the day. Sarita Nair, along with her partner Biju Radhakrishnan, had allegedly duped Abdul Majeed, owner of Associated Steels Yard, into paying ₹42.70 lakh after promising him franchises in solar panel and windmill farm companies in 2012.

Solar scam accused Saritha Nair sent to jail for 6 yrs in cheating case By IANS | 3 Views Kozhikode : April 27 (IANS) A court here on Tuesday sentenced solar scam accused Saritha Nair to six years rigorous imprisonment besides slapping a fine of Rs 40,000 on her in a cheating case in which she took money from a person but failed to deliver solar panels to him. Saritha had taken an amount to the tune of Rs 42.75 lakh in 2012 from one Abdul Majeed, promising to supply solar panels to him, but she failed to keep her promise. Incidentally, Saritha was ducking the Kozhikode Chief Judicial Magistrate s Court, and despite a few warrants issued against her, she failed to appear before the court.

Nair, the prime accused in the solar scam, following a warrant recently issued by the Kozhikode Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court. She was taken into custody from her house in Thiruvananthapuram in the morning. District Police Chief (Kozhikode City) A.V. George said the arrest was recorded as the accused did not appear before the court for final hearing even after issuing multiple warrants. She would be produced before the magistrate soon, he said.
