LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) busted a network of Afghanistan-based banned militant organisations in separate intelligence based operations (IOBs) carried out in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
According to sources, the CTD arrested four alleged militants in Rawalpindi, while two others were nabbed in Lahore.
A well-placed source said the banned militant organisations based in Afghanistan had changed their strategy to hit their targets in Pakistan. Instead of dispatching militants from the neighbouring country, they were hiring anti-social elements from northern areas and other parts of Pakistan to carry out terrorist activities here, he said.
The source said the CTD managed to trace the new network and made important arrests from the two main cities of Punjab.

The one-man inquiry commission constituted to investigate the Broadsheet scandal said in its report that no institution except the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cooperated with it.
The commission, comprising retired Supreme Court Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh, said that the record related to UK-based firm Broadsheet LLC was missing almost everywhere including the Pakistan High Commission in London .
The head of the mission did not consider it necessary to record the statements of Broadsheet owner Kaveh Moussavi and Tariq Fawad Malik who was part of the firm s team in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD:
Federal Minister for Science and Techonology Fawad Chauhdhry has said that the federal government is mulling to reopen infamous Swiss accounts case dated back to 1990s against PPP leaders including co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
“Asif Zardari was acquitted in Swiss accounts case because NAB officials at that time said that they did not have original record of the case documents which was an utter lie,” Fawad said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday.
He said the chairman of Broadsheet inquiry commission former apex court judge Azmat Saeed Sheikh has recovered the original record of the case.
