Case filed against 200 over attack on newspaper office in Habiganj

Habiganj police yesterday filed an assault case against 200 people in connection with the attack on Dainik Amar Habiganj newspaper office and houses of people from the Hindu community.
Names of 22 persons were mentioned in the case while the rest are unknown.
Among the accused, two were arrested today and sent to jail through the Habiganj court this afternoon, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting police.
Names of Muhibur Rahman Mahi, general secretary of the Habiganj district Chhatra League, Farhad Hossain Koli, joint secretary of the municipal Awami League and Fazle Rabbi Russell, office secretary of the municipal Awami League were mentioned in the case, said police.
This iftar distribution is being organised by a voluntary organisation called Patuakhalibasi .
Six members of the organisation, all students, have been carrying out this activity since the second day of Ramadan.
Mahmudul Hasan Raihan, convener of Patuakhalibasi said, I am running this iftar arrangement with donations from financially solvent people. If more wealthy people come forward, I will be able to put more iftar items for the helpless during the entire Ramadan. If anyone wishes to donate, their names will be kept anonymous. Hefajat mayhem in Brahmanbaria: 45 cases filed so far

A total of 45 cases have been registered in various police stations in Brahmanbaria till tonight in connection with the mayhem Hefajat-e-Islam men unleashed in the district from March 26 to March 28.
A total of 33,500 people were made accused in these cases, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent quoting police.
Md Abdur Rahim, officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station, said since Monday till tonight, a total of 13 cases were registered with that police station alone.
Of the 45 cases, 40 cases were filed with Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station, two with Ashuganj Police Station, two with Sarail Police Station and one with Akhaura Police Station, said Md Imtiaz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of district special branch.
