INDIANAPOLIS (AP) A gunman killed eight people and wounded several others before killing himself in a late-night shooting at a FedEx facility near the Indianapolis airport, police said, in the latest in a spate of mass shootings after a relative lull during the pandemic.
Five people were hospitalized after the Thursday night shooting, according to police. One of them had critical injuries, police spokesperson Genae Cook said. Another two people were treated and released at the scene. FedEx said people who worked for the company were among the dead.

WASHINGTON (AP) The White House is announcing the expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats and announcing a new round of sanctions against Russia.
The moves are in response to interference in last year’s presidential election as well as the hacking last year of federal government agencies. The U.S. for the first time explicitly linked that intrusion to a Russian intelligence service.

NEW YORK (AP) Bernie Madoff, the financier who pleaded guilty to orchestrating a massive Ponzi scheme, died in a federal prison early Wednesday, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.
Madoff died at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina, apparently from natural causes, the person said. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity.
Last year, Madoff’s lawyers filed court papers to try to get the 82-year-old released from prison in the COVID-19 pandemic, saying he had suffered from end-stage renal disease and other chronic medical conditions. The request was denied.

YSRCP Seeks Election Commission s Action Against TDP Over False Propaganda Apr 11, 2021, 15:10 IST
TIRUPATI: The ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India on Sunday, seeking action against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its candidate for distributing pamphlets that contained false propaganda, that the YSRCP had mortgaged the Special Status for personal gains. The complaint was filed by YSRCP State General Secretary Lella Appi Reddy on behalf of the party. This act was said to be highly objectionable, derogatory and attracting Penal action under the provisions of Representation of Peoples Act of 1951 and that the Central Election Commission should derecognize TDP as mentioned in the complaint.
