Downtown entertainment district board returns to Abilene council agenda
The Abilene City Council is scheduled again to take on approval and appointment of a downtown entertainment district advisory board.
The public portion of Thursday s regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Abilene City Hall, 555 Walnut St.
Tabled at the council smeeting April 8, the item would create a board to study a downtown entertainment area thatwould allow people to buy an alcoholic drink and then travel from location to location in a specified area, carrying the beverage.
City Manager Robert Hanna said after the previous meeting, at which the item was tabled, the council wanted to reflect further on the charges for the task force.

An Abilene woman was arrested after she was reportedly involved in a shooting Tuesday night, according to the Abilene Police Department.
Arianna Ornelas, 19, of Abilene, was charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault after she was arrested Thursday in Big Spring, police said.
According to police, dispatch received multiple calls for service at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Curry Lane at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
There, police said, a man suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said the investigation revealed the victim was outside the complex when a dark-colored, four-door vehicle approached and someone inside fired several shots in his direction.

LEVELLAND, Texas (KCBD) - A man who was named as a person of interest in the murder of 20-year-old Jeannie Quinn of Levelland has now been indicted by a Hockley County grand jury on a charge of murder, but for his wife who has been missing since 1993. Stephane Meeks Henderson, who was 21 years old at the time of her disappearance, went missing from her home in Levelland on November 27, 1993.
The Abilene Police Department Impound Facility has scheduled their auction of abandoned and wrecked vehicles with ReneBates.com.
