Police yet to confirm alleged attack on Abia police station

The Abia State Police Command is yet to confirm an alleged attack on Uzuakoli police station in Bende Local Government Area.
According to reports circulating on social media, the police station was invaded by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Monday.
The assailants were said to have set the station on fire but it is not yet clear if there were any human casualties.

Nigerian police officer arrested for stealing five AK-47 rifles
The officer fled to his country home in Ebonyi State after he allegedly stole the rifles in Abia State.

A police officer, Shedrack Igwe, working in the armoury section of MOPOL Base 28, Umuahia, Abia State, has been arrested with five AK-47 rifles he allegedly stole from the armoury.
Mr Igwe, a constable, was reported to have carted away the rifles from the armoury with the help of others, unnoticed.
He was later arrested in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi State where he hails from.

The Abia State Government has condemned the attack on and burning of the Abayi Police Station in Aba by yet-to-be identified gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday.
Sources disclosed that no fewer than two policemen might have lost their lives following the early morning invasion of the station located at the World Bank Housing Estate, Aba.
According to a police source, the incident occurred around 2am and the station was set on fire, while other sources said there was stiff resistance by policemen, who were later overpowered by the hoodlums.

The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the death of a cop when suspected hoodlums attacked a police station at Abayi Osisioma Location Government Area, near Aba.
Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna who confirmed the attack, said the attackers also recorded some casualties.
According to the PPRO, the attackers stormed the station around 2:00 am on Tuesday and set the entire place on fire after killing one of the police personnel on duty.
An unspecified number of vehicles parked at the station were also set ablaze by the invaders whose identities are yet to be ascertained.
