Mr Philip Shaibu, the Edo Deputy Governor, has described the late Prince Tony Momoh as a consummate politician whose impact in the nation’s development won’t be forgotten.
Shuaibu disclosed this in a statement signed by Mr Benjamin Atu, his media aide, on Monday night in Benin.
He stated that the late Momoh, a member of his immediate constituency, was a leading light who charted the course of peace, unity and politics without bitterness.
According to him, the late Momoh consistently maintained his carriage as an elder statesman in the Nigerian political scene.
Shuaibu described him as a doyen of mass communication and one of the last living legends of the journalism profession in Nigeria.

Abia State Government has condemned the recent destruction of farmlands by cows grazing openly in violation of extant laws of the State.
The State Government further condemned without reservations, the activities of criminal herdsmen suspected to have masterminded recent brazen kidnap of innocent citizens around Abia North Senatorial Zone of the State.
It disclosed that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has directed security agents in the State to bring to justice all those involved in the criminal activities.
The Abia Government, in a press statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu and made available to DAILY POST on Monday night, also frowned seriously at the wanton destruction of cows by yet to be identified individuals whose aim is to exacerbate already existing tensions.
Yesufu described Kanu as “made in China Shekau.”
The IPOB leader had warned Yesufu, a co-convener of BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, advocacy group to be “very careful” over her comment on the Eastern Security Network, ESN.
The activist had condemned ESN attack on Fulani herdsmen and killing of their cows in Isuikwuato area of Abia State.
She had wondered why the government would allow a parallel security outfit in the country.
Yesufu had declared the ESN action as unacceptable, which should not be condoned.
Against this backdrop, the IPOB leader warned the activist to be very careful.
However, Yesufu while sharing Kanu’s warning, wrote: “Tell the Made in China Shekau that I am not one of those #VictimMentality people that are swayed by his premature beard and stooped posture that he has taken on that have them kissing his feet with his infantile outbursts and decision making that have had him out in the cold.”

Ikpeazu lifts ban on activities of NURTW in Abia

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has lifted the proscription placed on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state.
Ikpeazu made this known on Tuesday when members of the National Executive Council of the union paid him a visit at the Government House, Umuahia.
The governor said that the decision to lift the ban was informed by steps taken by the national leadership of the union to call its members to order.
He said that he had accepted the apology tendered by the union, adding that the state government and NURTW ought to be partners in progress.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has expressed sadness over the death of one of its founding members and former Minister of State for Finance, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye describing his demise as a colossal national loss.
In a statement signed by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP commended the ex-Minister for his commitment and sacrifice to the development of Nigeria.
The statement read: “Senator Martins-Kuye, a member of the Third Republic Senate as well as our party’s candidate in the 1999 governorship election in Ogun state, was a highly courageous democrat and dedicated statesman, who sacrificed his time, energy and resources towards the stability and development of our nation.
