Hoosiers eager to head outside and enjoy their favorite trail now have even more to look forward to: On Thursday the state announced nearly $30 million in trail improvements around the state.
The grants will fund 70 miles of trail work, including some in Central Indiana. Among the 18 communities and organizations receiving funds are:
B&O Trail: The trail in Marion and Hendricks counties will receive $4.5 million to add nearly 6.5 miles of asphalt trail, extending it through Brownsburg and linking it with Indianapolis.
Big Four Trail: More than $4 million will go to over 7 miles of trail in Lebanon and Zionsville. A new 1.4-mile segment within Lebanon will connect the Courthouse Square to Abner Longley Park. The project will create new trailhead facilities at Zionsville Road.
