Positive COVID-19 Student Case at Middle School

Please click here for an updated COVID-19 Communication. Update: As of 6:00 pm on Friday, December 18, 2020, all close contacts to this positive case have been notified of their required quarantine. If you did not receive a phone call from the District, your child is not required to quarantine as a close contact. Eleven (11) students and one (1) staff member have been quarantined. Dear Parents,Guardians, and Families: This afternoon, the District was notified by District Health Department #10 that a student at O.J. DeJonge Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19. The student was tested on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 and was present in school on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The District is working with the health department on this matter and contact tracing has begun. This will require the quarantine of all close contact students and staff members of this student on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Families: The District has worked collaboratively with public health officials to complete contact tracing at Foster Elementary School. Twenty-two (22) students and seven (7) staff members were quarantined as close contacts to the recent student positive case at Foster Elementary School. All students and staff members have been notified of the need to quarantine. Student Tests Positive for COVID-19; Foster Elementary School Moves to Remote Instruction

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Families: The District Health Department #10 has notified the District that a student in 3rd grade at Foster Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. Public health officials also shared that the student was positive and in school at the time of the call to the District. The student was immediately removed from the classroom, the child’s ride home arrived immediately at the school, and the child was sent home. All other students in the classroom were removed and sent to the playground for recess, and immediate deep cleaning was done in the classroom space and in areas where the positive student was present. All students in the classroom, the teacher, and paraprofessionals in close contact to this student have been quarantined as close contacts to a positive COVID-19 case, and have been sent home.

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Families: As you are aware, a teacher at Franklin Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. The District worked collaboratively with District Health Department #10, Spectrum Health, and our staff to complete the contact tracing of those required to quarantine as a result of being a close contact to this teacher. It is important to recognize that this teacher works with students and staff in all classrooms across, all grade levels at Franklin. Fifty-four (54) students and two (2) staff members will be quarantined as close contacts. This is in addition to three (3) students that are still quarantined as close contacts. This represents approximately 40% of the in-person learners at Franklin Elementary School that will be quarantined as a result of this positive case.
