More than 10,000 people travelled through Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport on Friday, a negligible amount compared to the normal holiday rush but a significant number during the height of a global pandemic.
Lines snaked through the airport, sometimes so long they extended outdoors.

Pushing luggage-laden trollies and wearing masks, hundreds waited to check in for a flight to Algeria. Most were on their way home for extended periods, according to Zakaria Maoche, who stood in line with his guitar case and his bags.
