Syracuse Crunch finishes strong to blow out Utica, 6-2

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse Crunch toppled the Utica Comets, 6-2, Monday at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
Otto Somppi paced the Crunch with his second consecutive two-goal game to advance the team to 12-8-1-0 on the season and 3-4-0-0 in the 14-game season series with the Comets.
Goaltender Spencer Martin recorded back-to-back wins with 26 saves in net for the Crunch. Comets goaltender Joel Hofer turned aside 29-of-24. Syracuse went 2-for-5 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

After beating the Syracuse Crunch in back-to-backs last week, the Utica Comets were unable to overcome second period offensive explosion from their rivals this time around.

In the only game on the docket throughout the American Hockey League, the Crunch and Comets played through a scoreless first period before Syracuse opened the scoring with an offensive explosion in the second.

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse Crunch rolled past the Utica Comets, 5-1, Saturday at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
Nine different Crunch players earned a point as the team advances to 10-6-1-0 on the season and 2-2-0-0 in the 14-game season series against the Comets.
Crunch goaltender Sam Montembeault earned his fifth-consecutive win turning aside 24-of-25 shots. Comets goaltender Joel Hofer stopped 28-of-33. Syracuse went 1-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
The Crunch opened scoring just 17 seconds into the game when Taylor Raddysh chipped a rebound in back door. Syracuse then doubled up the Comets at 16:41 off a quick shot from Devante Stephens in the left circle.
