Reds 6, Rockies 5: The Rockies lost a tough one in 12

In an intense game that felt like the Rockies were on the verge of winning on multiple occasions, the Reds came away victorious. The Reds scored two runs in both the 11th and 12th innings to finish the Rockies off by a final score of 6-5.
Ryan F. McMahon hits his ninth jack of the year
With feats like Ryan McMahon keeps completing, I have decided to bestow him with the “F” middle initial, a la Peyton “PFM” Manning. McMahon hit an absolute bomb over the bullpen in the second inning with an exit velocity of 109.4 MPH and a 28 degree launch angle, and it was estimated to travel 478 feet. It was the arguably the farthest I’ve ever seen a ball hit to that part of the yard at Coors Field (Larry Walker and Bryce Harper might have each hit one that far) and was McMahon’s ninth home run of the year.

Ryan Castellani will start Game 2 of today’s doubleheader with the San Francisco Giants, beginning shortly after Game 1 (3:40 p.m. MDT). The right-hander has been recalled from the alternate site just two days before the start of the Triple-A season.
Right-handed pitcher Ryan Castellani will serve as the 27th man on today’s active roster and start the second game of today’s doubleheader. Rockies Club Information (@RockiesClubInfo) May 4, 2021
Castellani, 25, made his MLB debut in a start on August 8. He would go on to make nine starts in a Rockies rotation that was without Jon Gray to conclude the season (shoulder). Castellani held a 5.82 ERA (1.454 WHIP) last year, just months removed from working a 2.16 ERA (1.380 WHIP) in 13
MLB Trade Rumors
The Rockies announced that righty
Antonio Senzatela has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right groin strain. Left-hander
Lucas Gilbreath has been called up from the alternate training site in the corresponding move.
The injury compounds a tough beginning to the season for Senzatela, who has a 5.76 ERA through six starts. The ERA is perhaps a bit deceptive, as he allowed seven runs over 3 1/3 innings in his first outing of the season and a 4.10 ERA in in his five outings, though Senzatela’s Statcast metrics aren’t terribly impressive. The grounder specialist has his typically strong ground-ball rate (52.4%) but his 13.1% strikeout rate is among the league’s lowest. Senzatela’s arsenal has made him a decent back-of-the-rotation option for Colorado over the last three seasons, and he had a 3.44 ERA over 73 1/3 frames in 2020.
