PokerGO. Gone was the red jacket for
Daniel Negreanu, replaced by a camouflage jacket as he prepared for some poker warfare.
Phil Hellmuth brought a more modest package of
Sour Patch Kids to the table. He also acknowledged he’d be bringing a new approach right out of the gate.
“It’s going to be a little different battle today Daniel,” Hellmuth noted in the first few hands.
Negreanu planned on bringing a few
strategy alterations as well but was ready to adjust. In the end, Hellmuth found the winner’s circle yet again – making it five wins in a row on the show.

Phil Hellmuth defeated Daniel Negreanu Wednesday night for the second straight time, and no one should be surprised by the outcome. That isn’t a knock on the game of “DNegs,” but more a compliment to how talented and underrated the “Poker Brat” is.

The $200,000 match on PokerGO’s “High Stakes Duel II” show lasted five hours. Both players battled and traded the lead 16 times throughout the session, a stark contrast from Round 1 in which Negreanu, who eventually lost, held the lead most of the night only to let it fade away late.

At present, Hellmuth is already locked into one heads-up challenge against Daniel Negreanu, who lost $1.2 million to Polk a few months back in an online poker battle. Polk proposed the same format for his next potential opponent – 25,000 hands of No-Limit Hold’em online at $200/$400 stakes.
This isn’t the first time, and it might not be the last, that Polk challenged Hellmuth to some good old-fashioned heads-up poker. The challenge isn’t likely to be accepted, however, mostly because the lengthy heads-up battles online aren’t Hellmuth’s cup of tea.
