Chaz Mostert takes first victory with WAU, breaks Triple Eight monopoly of wins

Chaz Mostert takes first victory with WAU, breaks Triple Eight monopoly of wins 1 day ago Chaz Mostert has finally broken through for his first win with Walkinshaw Andretti United after failing to record a victory throughout 2020, finally converting for the first time in the 2021 Supercars season. Having started second on the grid next to former Tickford Racing team-mate Cam Waters, Mostert quickly took the lead and never looked back, securing the first win for the squad since Scott Pye won at the Australian Grand Prix support race back in 2018. The win also breaks a streak of Triple Eight victories with Shane van Gisbergen winning the first six races of the year, followed by Jamie Whincup extending it to seven with a first place finish earlier today.

Cam Waters snares double Sunday pole at Symmons Plains

Cam Waters snares double Sunday pole at Symmons Plains 1 day ago Cam Waters secured a brace of pole positions for the two Supercars Championship races at Symmons Plains. Both sessions would once see the field split in two to try and reduce any potential track issues around the short Symmons Plains circuit, but without the knockout element seen ahead of race one on Saturday. Qualifying for round seven saw Waters set the early pace in Group A during the eight minutes of running, but it would only be after a quick trip to the pits that the fastest laps would then be set.

Jamie Whincup keeps up Triple Eight dominance, ends SVG streak with Race 7 win

Jamie Whincup keeps up Triple Eight dominance, ends SVG streak with Race 7 win 1 day ago Jamie Whincup has taken his first win of 2021 and 123rd in total with a strong display in the first of two Supercars Championship races today at Symmons Plains, ending the winning streak of Triple Eight team-mate Shane Van Gisbergen in the process. Coming in to the race qualifying second on the grid, Whincup was able to harass pole-sitter Cam Waters throughout the race, getting a leg up on the Tickford Racing driver late in the 44 lap outing to take the race lead. Leading home a one-two finish for Triple Eight, Whincup was able to extend his team’s dominance at the Tasmanian venue to 22 victories from the last 32 races, also making it eight wins in a row for the team which started at last year’s Bathurst 1000.
