Plans to change the name of part of Abbey Way to Dame Frances Dove Way in High Wycombe
Abbey Way Part of a major town centre road in High Wycombe could be changed to celebrate a woman who set up schools and charities in the town. A section of Abbey Way, between the traffic lights and Marlow Hill, could be renamed either Dame Frances Dove Way or Frances Dove Way. Cllr Lesley Clarke OBE came up with the plan with local historian Willie Reid to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Dame Frances Dove and the founding of Wycombe Abbey School, which is accessed along that section of the road.
EXTENSIVE restoration work is needed to the landmark Feversham Memorial, Helmsley Town Council has been told. A survey carried out by Ian Hayton, of architects Ferrey and Mennim, has revealed that the memorial and the white marble statue of the 2nd Baron Feversham needs specialist work as a result of extensive weather damage over the years. A similar study has also been carried out on the war memorial in the churchyard of All Saints Parish Church which has revealed that inscriptions have been eroded and the cross shaft is badly weather worn. The town council is now to seek costings for carrying out the renovation work on both monuments.
Tony Blair s entrepreneur son Euan lined up alongside fellow multi-millionaire Rishi Sunak today to encourage young people who are out of a job to try their hand at an apprenticeship.
Mr Blair, 37, the founder and chief executive of Multiverse, a firm which offers people non-university career paths, joined the Chancellor to back his Plan for Jobs programme to stem the UK s burgeoning unemployment rate.
The eldest son of the former prime minister used the event, broadcast live on Twitter by Mr Sunak, to say there are opportunities people can pursue despite the economic paralysis affecting the UK.
Both men have taken full advantage of the opportunities life has thrown at them. Mr Blair, like his siblings, is a millionaire through property alone after Mr Blair and Cherie gave them a leg up on to the property ladder.
