The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Monday mourned a former Minister of Information and Culture, Tony Momoh, who died earlier in the day, describing him as a longtime ally, friend and political loyalist.
He was quoted as saying that Momoh stood with him through thick and thin.
“His (Momoh’s) brand of loyalty is very rare in the politics of today. I will greatly miss him,” the President was quoted as saying.
According to Adesina, the President recalled that as chairman, Media and Publicity of the All Nigeria People’s Party Campaign Organisation in the 2003 and 2007 elections as well as Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change, Momoh contributed in no small measure to the growth and strengthening of the organisations, leading to the eventual formation of the All Progressives Congress.

Following the release of the recently abducted schoolboys in Katsina State, IMOLEAYO OYEDEYI chronicles kidnap incidents that have gripped the country since former military head of state, Muhammadu Buhari, assumed office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
When no fewer than 276 final year female students were kidnapped in the dead of night at the Government Girls secondary school in Chibok, Borno State in one of the most alarming onslaughts of the dreaded terrorists’ group, Boko Haram, the administration of former Nigerian president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, received spirited criticisms globally. Many human rights organisations, both local and international, cited the abduction as a testament of the ex-president’s lack of political will and expertise needed to decisively handle issues of insecurity and secure the lives and properties of Nigerians against the growing life-draining threats posed by the rampaging terrorists.

A two term former Governor of Zamfara State, Sani Yarima, has declared that the North has no agreement with the South West during the merger talks, even as he challenged the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region to produce evidence to that effect if they claim that there was such zoning agreement before the merger. Recall that the Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, had during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, challenged the northern politicians to respect zoning agreement they entered into with the South Western politicians before the merger with the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), dominant in the South West.
