Brown County’s burn ban was left in place Monday morning since windy conditions are expected to continue this week and rain amounts were minimal over the weekend.
Commissioners also approved a one-year contract between Brown County and Buddy Preston. Preston, who recently retired from the City of Brownwood as Fire Marshal, will be contracted to investigate fires which may occur in unincorporated areas of Brown County which is all fire investigations except in the towns of Brownwood, Bangs and Early.
The cost to the County will be $150 for the first hour and $50 for each subsequent hour needed to investigate the fire.

Commissioners Look to Receive Cares Act Funds

The County Commissioners met Feb. 23, 2021 at the Commission Office in New Martinsville.
Commission President Lisa Heasley called the meeting to order following the Pledge of Allegiance. All Commissioners were present to conduct business on a light agenda.
First order of business was the approval by unanimous vote to accept the minutes from the previous session held February 16.
The next item on the agenda was a telephone call from Clayton Fitzsimmons of Fitzsimmons Law Office inquiring if Wetzel County Commission had applied and received all the Care Act Funds they are entitled to.
Wetzel Commission Meet for Regular Session

The Commissioners of Wetzel County on February 16, 2021 held their regular meeting at the Commission Office. All Commissioners were present. Commission President Lisa Heasley after leading in the Pledge of Allegiance, called the meeting to order.
A motion to accept the minutes of the previous meeting February 8, 2021 was given unanimous approval by the commission.
Also a Revision to the budget for the Sheriff’s Department was approved unanimously by the commissioners.
