JACKSON, MI - Western High School is the Jackson County’s highest rated public high school in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.
The school received a state ranking of No. 214 overall, with a score of 64.34 out of 100, in the ranking released Tuesday, April 27
Rankings are based on several weighted factors, including: College readiness (30%), college curriculum breadth (10%), math and reading proficiency (20%), math and reading performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%) and graduation rate (10%).
Western High School scored highest in reading proficiency (66%) in addition to having a graduation rate of 89%.

Carnegie Vanguard High School ranked highest on the list at No. 42. The school is ranked fifth within Texas. The Advanced Placement coursework participation rate there is 100 percent; total minority enrollment is 77 percent, and 31 percent of students are economically disadvantaged.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY Thirty-four high schools in the Hudson Valley are among the best in the United States, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report, and Croton Harmon High School is among them.
This year s list ranks more than 17,800 public high schools throughout the country, giving them scores within their state as well as nationwide.
Croton Harmon received an overall score of 98/100.
