West Indies Women bowl off camp in Antigua

THE West Indies Women cricketers have gathered in Antigua this weekend for a training camp, which bowls off at Coolidge Cricket Ground, on Sunday.
The camp, featuring 24 cricketers, will be the first face-to-face assignment with the players for new head coach Courtney Walsh and his technical support team, who will lead a three-week high performance programme for a mixture of senior players and new faces.
A Cricket West Indies (CWI) media release said, “CWI has been working closely with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Sport in Antigua and Barbuda to orchestrate logistics and agree the safety protocols for the commencement and duration of the camp. All players and support staff were tested twice with negative covid19 results before their arrival into Antigua. The players and support staff will train and live in a bio-secure bubble for the duration of the camp, during which they will have four more tests

Two Jamaicans are among five West Indies players named in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Teams of the Decade.
Explosive opener Chris Gayle and West Indies women s captain Stafanie Taylor are the Jamaicans named in the Teams of the Decade.
Taylor was named in both the T20I and the ODI teams. Barbadian Deandra Dottin, the dynamic allrounder was named in the T20I side while Trinidad and Tobago s Anisa Mohammed, the highly-successful off-spinner was named in the ODI team.
On the men’s side Gayle, one of the game s most sensational batsmen, and Trinidad and Tobago s Kieron Pollard, the sensational power-hitter were named in the T20I team. There were no men’s players in the ODI team or Test team.

WEST Indies women’s cricketer Anisa Mohammed said she was surprised to be named in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Women’s One-Day International team of the decade announced in London, on Monday.
Mohammed, 32, told the TT Cricket Board (TTCB) that it was a good feeling and although the accolade was unexpected it was a huge honour to be included among some of the most elite names in the international women’s game.
Also named by the ICC was West Indies 50-Over and T20 captain Kieron Pollard on the T20 men’s team of the decade. The big-hitting Pollard was recently picked to lead the Red Force in the upcoming Cricket West Indies Regional Super50 Cup in Antigua.
