The Ho Chi Minh City travel sector plans to double down on its investment in pushing retail tourism to the domestic market in the hope of recovering from the effects of COVID-19.
The city should leverage its strong retail sector in order to boost the tourism industry, Nguyen Thi Khanh, chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, said during the organization’s general meeting on Tuesday.
The city’s tourism sector was heavily battered by the COVID-19 pandemic, which halted tourism operations throughout Vietnam and forced many firms out of business, leading to many of the industry s professionals seeking new jobs or change careers.

More nighttime tourism services would help extend tourists’ length of stay and spending in HCM City, experts have recommended.

Nguyen Quang Khuong, a visitor from Hanoi, said fun activities in the city take place mostly during the day.
“Finding things to do after 10pm is relatively hard as most restaurants and movie theatres are closed. A popular destination includes Bui Vien Walking Street, but it mostly serves foreigners,” he added.

HCM City to provide all public services online at level 4 by 2030

Ho Chi Minh City has set a target to provide 100 percent of public services online at level 4 by 2030. Level 4 is the highest level of online public services, which allows users to fill and submit forms, and pay fees online.
In the first quarter of 2020, Ho Chi Minh City s authorities provided 668 online public administrative services at levels 3 and 4 in various fields, and more than 80 percent of local residents and organisations said they were satisfied with the services.
According to the city’s Department of Home Affairs, district and commune-level administrative units handled more than 84 million documents online in the last five years.

Fine of US$861.8 imposed on two women for posting falsified Covid-19 test result
Two women in the Central City of Da Nang were fined VND20 million (US$861.8) for spreading falsified Covid-19 test result on social media causing public worry.
Lieutenant colonel Phung Van Hung from the Lien Chieu police agency said that the police decided to issue administrative fines on one woman in Thanh Khe District and one woman in Son Tra District for spreading and posting incorrect Covid-19 test results, triggering public outrage.
