Port Hueneme woman found dead in house fire identified
The Port Hueneme woman found dead after her residence caught fire on Thursday night has been identified.
Helen D. Schneider, 90, was found dead after a fire was knocked down in her home in the 2500 block of Neptune Place in Port Hueneme, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The cause and manner of her death are still pending. Investigators have been working to determine if Schneider died as a result of the fire or prior to the incident.
The fire was first reported at 7 p.m., according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The single-story townhome is located in Hueneme Bay, a retirement community in Port Hueneme.
