CLEVELAND, Ohio Every now and then the drip, drip, drip of the free agent market finds its way to the Indians.
Texas signed right-hander Hunter Wood to a minor-league deal on Tuesday. Wood spent last season with the Indians at their alternate training camp at Classic Park in Eastlake. The Indians acquired Wood and infielder Christian Arroyo from Rays in July of 2019. He made 17 appearances for the Indians in 2019.
It has been a slow free-agent winter for the Indians. First baseman Carlos Santana did all right for himself by signing a two-year, $17.5 million deal with Kansas City, but that’s about it as far as big money goes. Catcher Sandy Leon and right-hander Jefry Rodriguez signed minor-league deals with the Marlins and Nationals, respectively. Outfielder Domingo Santana reportedly signed with the Yakult Swallows in Japan.
