Recognition Kennedy s most satisfying Order of Merit reward | PGA of Australia | Official Golf News, Live Scores & Results

Published - 1 week By - Tony Webeck A career renaissance that has gone largely unnoticed now carries an extra element of gravitas after Queenslander Brad Kennedy secured the 2020/2021 ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit. The outbreak of the coronavirus in early 2020 caused significant disruptions to the Australasian tournament schedule but a run of six events in the space of eight weeks ensured the Order of Merit was completed and Kennedy could be pronounced its champion. Winner of the New Zealand Open in March last year – the final event before the temporary suspension of the season – Kennedy added the inaugural event of The Players Series at Rosebud Country Club to his tally of season victories to go with two top-fives and a tie for seventh at last week’s Golf Challenge NSW Open at Concord Golf Club.

5 things to watch this Easter weekend – 2 to 5 April

The Vikings (1958) BBC2 knows how to put an Easter Sunday afternoon together. In an uncrowded field, this 1958 production from Richard Fleischer remains perhaps cinema’s best ever Viking movie, stirringly shot in the Norwegian fjords and scored to a swashbuckling earworm. Kirk Douglas is the wrathful Einar – missing an eye after his half-brother Eric (Tony Curtis) set a falcon on him. Ernest Borgnine is the dread King Ragnar, while Janet Leigh is the Welsh princess whose beauty sets the half-brothers on a destructive collision course. Fleischer had few equals for colourful entertainment in this period, and this story of a Norse invasion of Northumbria offers all the longship action, gruesome demises and dark-ages derring-do that your inner child could ever hope to see.

No knock on Wood as challengers assemble at Isuzu Queensland Open | PGA of Australia

Published - 4 weeks By - Jim Tucker Local hope Chris Wood fired a fine 65 to lead the hungry posse of challengers set to make Sunday a thrilling shootout for the Isuzu Queensland Open. The Wynnum Golf Club member sunk a nerveless 2m par putt on the final green at Pelican Waters in Saturday’s third round to lock in a one-stroke lead.  There are 18 players within five strokes of the lead as the storied tournament heads to a climax overflowing with birdies and tests of temperament.  Wood (68-68-65) has already reached the 15-under-par mark that Anthony Quayle posted to win last year’s event on the same course outside Caloundra.
