At least five current or former Polk County Jail inmates have accused a medical provider there of sexually abusing them. Plaintiffs Rod Mundy, Clayton Shaw, Robert Gaitlin, Anthony Garcia and Robert Stephenson each have filed lawsuits claiming Dr. Michael J. Daly sexually assaulted them in his private office at the Polk County Jail. Stephenson s lawsuit was filed in June 2020 and alleges an assault in June 2018. The four other cases have been filed since February and describe incidents in early 2019. The men remain in custody at different state and federal facilities. Attorney Erik Luthens, who is representing all five men, said a few more cases have yet to be filed. The first five cases were each brought just before the two-year statute of limitations expired.
