Emily Mortimer’s adaptation of Nancy Mitford‘s classic novel The Pursuit of Love finally arrives on BBC One tonight. Despite being filmed in the middle of a global pandemic, the three-part period drama is outrageously good-looking.

You’ll see beautiful country estates, stately homes, posh hotels and university quads. And in the middle of all this, impetuous Linda Radlett (Lily James) and her sensible cousin Fanny (Emily Beecham) are about to take their first tentative steps out into the world – in search of love, marriage and happiness.
Episode one opens with a pregnant Linda being bombed out of her London home during the Blitz, before the action flashes back to when she and Fanny were teens in the early 1930s…

Fox News propagandists did Rudy Giuliani a solid by seizing on a small correction in the very large story about the heap of legal trouble he’s in – in an obvious effort to distract from and discredit the serious charges he may face.
The retractions were insignificant to the overall Giuliani story
Rachel Maddow put together a terrific explainer of the Giuliani matter, as we knew it on Friday night. To summarize: federal investigators raided Giuliani’s home last week, reportedly looking for information as to whether he was illegally paid, either in cash or favors, such as dirt on Joe Biden, by Russian agents, in exchange for getting corruption-fighting Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch fired and/or to keep indicted oligarch Dmytro Firtash from being extradited to the U.S.
It wouldn’t be the first time the acting profession has been labelled incestuous.
But a glance at the star-strewn cast for new BBC drama The Pursuit Of Love suggests that a number of them were extremely well acquainted long before the series started filming last year.
Not only does Emily Mortimer write, direct and act in the much anticipated show, she appears to have employed at least 12 members of her family and close friends in the production – including her mother, two children and two nephews.
The three-part series, which starts next Sunday, is based on Nancy Mitford’s classic novel and tells the tale of the Radletts, a family loosely based on Mitford’s with her six aristocratic siblings.

It s lunchtime in New York City and Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells – best friends, long-time collaborators and Brooklyn neighbours – are calling me on Zoom on their way to a spa break. Dolly is driving. Emily, having propped up her mobile phone so they can see me, is in the passenger seat, dipping Vietnamese summer rolls into a pot of chilli sauce.
