District community center previewed for School Committee FERNANDES Staff Photo/Greg Vine Published: 2/17/2021 3:06:03 PM Modified: 2/17/2021 3:06:01 PM ATHOL Athol Royalston Regional School District Superintendent Darcy Fernandes last week gave the School Committee a preview of what a district-run community center might look like. Fernandes told the committee, “Over the past few years, one of the main pieces of the strategic plan that we’ve been looking at and trying to build capacity for, is what I’m calling a ‘family and community center.’ If we look at our strategic plan, one whole segment is on community involvement, and a number of strategies that we’ve used around that is how to use media to bring people more into the fold in the district. But what this district has been looking for is something much more comprehensive.
