With interest rates already low, the likely policy response will center on more government borrowing, relegating central banks to a supporting role. That backdrop will overshadow decisions this week where policy makers are expected to keep rates on hold â Indonesia, South Korea and New Zealand.
âIn my view, there is little room for further monetary policy stimulus, at least in terms of traditional policy levers like interest rate cuts,â said Tuuli McCully, head of Asia-Pacific economics at Scotiabank. âI expect additional fiscal stimulus to play a key role in helping economies.â
CII appreciates Telangana govt’s decision to impose lockdown

Hyderabad: The Confederation of Indian Industry today appreciated the lockdown imposed by the government of Telangana.
The CII said that during the current pandemic situation, saving lives should be the topmost priority and CII Telangana appreciates the government of Telangana’s decision to impose statewide lockdown for 10 days starting from 12 May.
Mr Sameer Goel, Chairman, CII Telangana said that there is a need to break the chain and minimize the transmission links to the possible extent and lockdown may help in this regard. He also mentioned that all essential services, prioritized sectors should be allowed to function
Industries Department stresses on operations with appropriate COVID-19 protocols
The Confederation of Indian Industry, Telangana (CII-TS) has appreciated Telangana government on its decision to impose State-wide lockdown for ten days from May 12.
“During the current pandemic situation, saving lives should be the top most priority,” CII Telangana Chairman Sameer Goel said in a statement. There is a need to break the chain and minimise the transmission links and the lockdown may help. All essential services, prioritised sectors should be allowed to function, he said.
A GO from Industries and Commerce Department, on the lockdown guidelines, said all manufacturing industries are permitted to function following appropriate COVID-19 protocol standard operating procedures.
Pat for TS efforts to propel drone ecosystem

A senior official in the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation on Friday said that Telangana is creating a robust ecosystem for drone in the country.
Joint Secretary Amber Dubey said this while urging stakeholders in the area of drone to focus on creating intelligent algorithms, software and IP since these are poised to play a key role ahead. The official, who was addressing a virtual conference on drones organised by industry body CII, also congratulated the State government on receiving the Ministry approval for conducting experimental delivery of vaccines by drones.
Coromandel International lost 1.18% to Rs 724.70 after the company s consolidated net profit tanked 33.5% to Rs 155.85 crore on 0.5% decline in net sales to Rs 2,855.97 crore in Q4 FY21 over Q4 FY20.
On a consolidated basis, profit before depreciation, interest, taxes and exceptional item (EBITDA) for the quarter ended 31 March 2021 stood at Rs 261 crore as against Rs 391 crore during the corresponding quarter last year, dropping 33.24% Y-o-Y (year-on-year).
For the year ended 31 March 2021, the company s consolidated total income stood at Rs 14,257 crore over Rs 13,177 crore earned last year, registering a 8.19% Y-o-Y increase. EBITDA was at Rs 2,021 crore, recording a growth of 17% Y-o-Y compared with Rs 1,732 crores last year. Profit after tax stood at Rs 1,329 crore from Rs 1,065 crore, registering a growth of 25% Y-o-Y.
