The four acts will be split into two duelling pairs. The public will vote for their favourite in each duel, with the two winners progressing to the “Gold Duel”. The public will then vote once more. The winner of the gold duel will win the semi-final and qualify directly to the grand final. The eliminated acts will remain in contention for a wildcard spot in the final, which will be decided later on in the season.
In addition to the duels, one pre-qualified act will perform:

The first of the 5 Semi-Finals of the Norwegian national selection, Melodi Grand Prix 2021 has concluded. The country now has its first qualifier into the Final which will be held on Saturday 20 February. Keep reading on to find out what went down!
The first Semi-Final saw 4 acts take the stage and battle in 3 duels, all vying for a chance to compete in the Norwegian national final. But in the end, only 1 act could secure a spot and Blåsemafian feat. Hazel, with the song
Norway s Melodi Grand Prix 2021 - artists revealed including KEiiNO and Rein Alexander
Tonight Norwegian broadcaster NRK revealed 10 of the 26 artists who will be taking part in this year s Melodi Grand Prix.
The 10 artists include the four artists taking part in this weekend s first of five semi-finals, as well as the six artists who automatically have a spot in February s final compered by 2020 hosts Ingrid Gjessing Linhave, Ronny Brede Aase and Kåre Magnus Bergh.

KEiiNO were the big announcement of the night. They won Melodi Grand Prix in 2019 and then the televote at Eurovision in Tel Aviv finishing 6th overall. They went on to tour Australia and release a huge amount of music including a duet with our very own Electric Fields. Their song Monument will be revealed on 15th January and they will perform (not compete) in the first semi-final this weekend.
