BOISE, Idaho - Three Idaho Army National Guard pilots died Tuesday evening when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Boise during a training flight.
The helicopter was last contacted at 7:45 p.m. while it was on a routine training flight, Col. Christopher Burt said. The UH-60 Black Hawk s emergency transmitter locator was activated about 15 minutes later.
Search and rescue crews found the wreckage about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday near a mountain named Lucky Peak. The names of the pilots killed in the crash were not immediately released so that their relatives could be notified. They were the only people on board.

BOISE, Idaho The three members of the Idaho Army National Guard who died in a helicopter crash Tuesday night were experienced pilots on a routine training mission, officials said.
The UH-60 Black Hawk crashed just after 8 p.m. south of Lucky Peak, near Three Point Mountain in the Danskin range. There were no survivors.
The names of the pilots killed have not yet been released, but 183rd Aviation Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Nicole Washington said that two of the guard members were instructor pilots, and that the trio had thousands of hours of flight time between them.

The incident happened during a routine training flight near Boise. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Three seasoned pilots with the Idaho National Guard were killed in a helicopter crash Tuesday night outside Boise during a training flight over rough terrain, Guard officials said.
The UH-60 Black Hawk crashed south of Lucky Peak after 8 p.m., the state National Guard confirmed in a Facebook post Wednesday morning.
Two of the pilots were instructors with the Idaho Army National Guard, and the most junior member had more than five years of flight experience, said Lt. Col. Nicole Washington, who oversaw the members. It leaves a tremendous, indescribable void in our aviation community, Washington said Wednesday at a news conference.

All three personnel aboard were pilots with the Idaho Army National Guard participating in a routine training flight.
“This is a tremendous loss to the Idaho National Guard and our community,” said Maj. Gen. Michael Garshak, adjutant general of Idaho and commander of the Idaho National Guard. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones as we work through this tragedy.”
