Lazarus Chakwera Challenged Unima to Maintain Standards

Zomba, April 28, Mana: President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera has challenged the University of Malawi (Unima) to maintain high standards as it undergoes delinking process.
Speaking at Chancellor College during the virtual graduation where only 73 with distinction attended the ceremony physically.
Chakwera said the founder of Unima, Late President Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda had a great vision, which was to make Malawian education competitive to the world.
He said Unima was as such, founded to offer education that would capacitate graduates with knowledge that would make them outclass others even those from developed countries.

Reverend Nick Chakwera, son of the country’s President has dragged to court Joshua Chisa Mbele, for defamation over posts he made on Facebook.
Mbele is allegedly to have claimed that Martin Mainja one of the suspects in the abuse of Covid-19 funds is a business partner of Chakwera.
Mainja owns Pest Chem 1B which was handpicked and awarded a K97 million contract by the Office of the President and Cabinet, according to a National Audit Office report.
He also alleged that Mainja and Chakwera were irregularly awarded business opportunities by the Office of the President, Cabinet Parliament, Chancellor College, Malawi Prison and Ministry of Health.
