The parent teacher organization for Northwood Preschool Center in Ames hoped that a new event Friday will become a first annual fundraiser. For this year, the goal is to provide five accessible outdoor picnic tables for the school.
Friday s Trike, Trot and Roll event had students brought over from Northwood to lap around the bases at Rotary Club of Ames Miracle Field at Inis Grove Park, and then get a few minutes on the nearby playground.
Cassie Bexten, Northwood parent and PTO president, said remote learning students could also come, or participate at home.
The play time capped off Boosterthon, a student fundraising effort this month through FunRun.com. So far, more than $4,000 has been raised toward the $5,000 sought for five accessible picnic tables for the school.
Funding for cultural projects at KHOI comes from a generous donation from Ames Commission on the Arts.
