Fayette LaunchBox powered by Penn State has received a pledge of $50,000 from the Garlow Family. Penn State will make a 1:1 matching contribution to create a new endowment valued at $100,000 to support Fayette LaunchBox programming in perpetuity.
Penn Staters are invited to participate as campaign hosts during the University’s annual fundraising event.

Applications are now open for all Penn State campuses, colleges, programs and alumni groups interested in hosting a fundraising campaign during Penn State’s GivingTuesday celebration.
This year s event which will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 30 marks the seventh year that Penn State has participated in the international celebration of philanthropy. The event highlights the achievements of faculty, staff, students and alumni across Penn State and beyond, seeks to raise funds for a variety of initiatives and is one of the University’s most successful annual fundraising efforts. Last year, the institution’s GivingTuesday celebration broke institutional records by generating more than 10,000 gifts in less than 48 hours. In total, the 2020 event raised over $1 million dollars to benefit more than 125 University programs and initiatives

.- Construction of the new building for the Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State has begun. The Museum will directly neighbor the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens in The Arboretum at Penn State, replacing the current facility on campus. The new 71,000-square-foot Museum, projected to open in the fall of 2023, will substantially boost accessibility to the Universitys art collections for students, faculty, staff and the public.

Because these wildfires can rage for months, McCrory said, these efforts are run like a military campaign. Ultimately, he said, it’s the members of the crew on the ground who put the fires out, so his job is to support their mission.
He also performs a range of tasks not directly related to wildfires such as flying federal inspectors out to offshore oil platforms and flying LiDAR-equipped remote sensing missions to spot sagging power transmission lines, which can cause wildfires.
