Subscriber only House prices soared in 710 suburbs across Queensland over the last three months, with over half of the top performers located in the regions. New data from CoreLogic found that house prices in regional Queensland rose in 390 suburbs, compared to price rises across 320 suburbs in the Greater Brisbane area. Of the 406 regional suburbs analysed by property data firm Core Logic, only 13 recorded price declines over the March quarter, with three other suburbs recording zero growth.

Premium Content  The scourge of domestic violence is worsening across the state as statistics from the Queensland Courts reveal frightening increases in domestic violence orders (DVOs) made. More than 38,000 DVOs have been made by the Queensland Courts over the last year, the majority of which were lodged at Southport, Beenleigh and Brisbane. Women are, more often than not, the victims of domestic violence in Queensland, representing 77 per cent of those who require court protection. The orders can include conditions that limit or ban contact between the defendant and the aggrieved, prevent the defendant from coming within a a certain distance of the aggrieved, and order the defendant to be of good behaviour to the aggrieved, among other things.

This year’s virtual, immersive event will focus on Quality Teaching of Reading in the Early Years and has attracted more than 500 delegates from around Australia, and as far afield as New Zealand, Scotland, and Wyoming in the United States.

Heavy rainfall has pelted south-east Queensland in time for the long weekend, with more than 100 millimetres being dumped on the Sunshine Coast overnight.
South-east Queensland will see more showers this weekend.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Peter Markworth said Bells Creek South copped 136 millimetres.
“Most of the rainfall was seen on the Sunshine Coast between Maroochydore and Bribie Island,” he said.
“There was also heavy rainfall throughout the Greater Brisbane region with Woody Point getting 65 millimetres, Kippa Ring had 73 millimetres and Bribie Island saw 62 millimetres.
