“I know everybody wanted it,” Rutgers coach Scott Goodale said, “and that’s what they got.”
The Scarlet Knights got swept by Minnesota and Purdue, but not because of a lack of effort by Turley. The sophomore 174-pounder went 2-0 on the day, including a rousing technical fall over the Golden Gophers’ Jake Allar, who was nationally ranked by some services entering the match.
Turley was already moving into the lineup temporarily after struggling starter Joe Grello entered the concussion protocol after injury defaulting out of an extra bout before Rutgers’ two duals. But now it looks like he could stick around a while.

The consistent storyline thus far in the 2021 wrestling season is the dominance of the Iowa Hawkeyes. This team further separated itself from the rest of the Big Ten conference over the weekend with a dominating 36-6 win over No. 9 Illinois.
Questions, however, still remain around how much of a threat Penn State will be to an Iowa title and how many All-Americans Iowa can put on the podium.
N.C. State, Oklahoma State and Nebraska also will attempt to put themselves in position to battle for a team trophy in March.

“It was just Henry Aaron being Henry Aaron,” House said. “I remember in Cincinnati when he opened up there, kind of being this pushing him, ‘What if you hit the tying home run Friday? Are you going to play Saturday or Sunday? What happens this? What happens that?’ And he was like, ‘Look, I’m here to play baseball. I’m going to play baseball, and what happens, happens.’ Unflappable. He may have been really nervous inside or frustrated, or whatever. He never showed us as teammates.”
House had met Aaron years before after signing with Atlanta as a minor leaguer in 1967.
