If you are fully vaccinated in Hartford or New London counties, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends you wear a mask indoors.
A day after the CDC shifted its mask guidance to recommend even fully vaccinated people to wear masks indoors in places of substantial and high community transmission, both counties on Wednesday hit the levels to be designated as having substantial spread of COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidance Tuesday and will recommend students wear masks in schools and some fully vaccinated people to wear face coverings indoors in certain areas of the country where COVID cases are spiking.
Connecticut does not immediately fall into the areas of the country where the CDC recommends fully vaccinated people to wear masks inside public settings. The new recommendations apply to those in areas with “substantial to high” community transmission of the virus, but the CDC had all of Connecticut listed Tuesday as having moderate spread.

Updated guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday urging mask-wearing in schools did not prompt Gov. Ned Lamont to make any immediate decisions about what will be in store for kids and teachers returning this fall.
“We’re still reviewing CDC guidance but, similarly to what we’ve done in the past, we have been rather consistent when it comes to masks and CDC but there’s no official stance at this point,” said Max Reiss, spokesperson for the governor.
The CDC’s updated guidance recommends that teachers, staff and students continue to wear masks in schools regardless of their vaccination status. Earlier this month, the American Academy of Pediatrics also released similar guidance strongly recommending universal mask-wearing “because a significant portion of the student population is not yet eligible for vaccines.”
