The march began in Auckland’s Albert Park. “Anything I can do to help promote the safety of our rainbow community I’ll do. We want this country to feel safe for everyone.” Eliana Rubashkyn, who is part of the intersex community, attended the march to give the intersex community a voice. “We’ve been hidden for years, and we need to remind people we’re here and still facing adversity.”

Although they said they were relieved to be in alert level 2 now, they were not out of the woods yet.
The latest level 3 lockdown has interrupted the Pride and Fringe festivals, with thousands of events quickly moved online, rescheduled or cancelled.
Auckland Pride Festival director Max Tweedie said when he watched the announcement, it was a shock. The adrenalin just kicked in, and my head just kicked straight into contingency plans, and I don t think it really sunk in at all at that time until a couple of days. It was our worst nightmare.

Following this afternoon’s announcement from the Government that Auckland is moving down to Alert Level Two at 11:59pm tonight, Auckland Pride is implementing its Alert Level Two Plan until Monday at 11:59pm. This will be in place until we receive further advice from the Government around Alert Level Settings.
At this time we are able to confirm the plans of our 56 events that were scheduled to take place this week between Thursday 18th and Monday 22nd of February. A list of these updates is provided below.
Auckland Pride will make a decision on Monday the 22nd about whether or not to proceed with the Auckland Pride March and Pride Party – currently scheduled for the 27th.
