Doha: Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani attended the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as flag bearers Tala Abujbara and Mohammed Al Rumaihi led the national contingent during the athletes parade at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, yesterday.
H E Sheikh Joaan was accompanied by the QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain as the opening ceremony was also attended many other dignitaries including the Emperor of Japan Naruhito.

Doha: Two more members of the Qatari contingent – Muhammad Al Rumaihi and Tala Abujbara – reached Tokyo yesterday, hoping for a strong show at the upcoming Olympic Games.
Al Rumaihi will represent Team Qatar in shooting to start on July 28, while Tala will make history in Tokyo becoming the first Qatari female to participate in a rowing event at Games.
Al Rumaihi, who was accompanied by coach Robert Mlodzianowski, said he was ready to give his best.
