Column: Was Wauka higher, or did it just shrink? Johnny Vardeman The city of Gainesville is razing the old Turner, Wood & Smith Insurance building on Brenau Avenue. That building has had a variety of uses. In the 1940s, it was a Big Star supermarket, and in the 1950s it became Colonial Stores. During the 1980s, it was home to the Social Security office.  Then the insurance agency moved into it from nearby Bradford Street. And, after Turner, Wood & Smith moved to Jesse Jewell Parkway, Hall County Library used the building as a temporary location, while its main property at the corner of West Academy and Main Street underwent renovation.

Montgomery police seeking info on Dodge Charger in homicide case

A $1,000 reward has been offered for information in the July death of Bernard Hardy Jr. Hardy, 20, was shot shortly before 11 p.m. July 10 in the 6300 block of Atlanta Highway and taken to a hospital where he died.  About two months after Hardy s death, CrimeStoppers released images of two vehicles, the occupants of which police were hoping to identify in connection with the case.  One of those vehicles, a black Dodge Charger is still being sought by police, while a Dodge Ram 1500 and its occupants were cleared of any involvement.  Family members wanted the public to know that Bernard Hardy was a loving, funny, and helpful person, according to an email from CrimeStoppers Thursday.  They are pleading to anyone that knows anything to please come forward, at least do it for the family. Bernard leaves behind his loving 1-year old son who now has to grow up without him. Please come forward with any Information.

Video surveillance from an area business showed two black vehicles, a Dodge Ram 1500 and a Dodge Charger, in the area during the time of the shooting.

Man Threatened by Unknown Account Over Nude Photos An unknown person threatened to distribute nude photos of a man if he did not send them $1,000 through CashApp on March 27, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police Department report. An unknown Instagram account using a woman’s name requested to follow the man’s account and he accepted. The account then messaged him and asked if he would be willing to exchange nude photos, according to the report. After the exchange occurred, the person messaged him again saying they were going to “ruin his life” and send his nude photos to his Instagram followers. The account sent screenshots to the man of sending his nude photos to his followers, including his sister, according to the report.
