Shop bosses unveil plans for new £700,000 Co-op superstore in Gourock

SHOP bosses have unveiled plans for a new £700,000 Co-op superstore in Gourock. The company wants to close its current outlets on Cardwell Road and Shore Street and move onto the site of the Fishertrucks business. Under the plan the Co-op would bulldoze and clear that site to make way for the new two storey building and a car park with 20 spaces. A Co-op spokeswoman said: The large development will have a sales area of 4,300 sq ft and would replace the two existing stores in the town, combining them into one store with a large car park for customers and staff, a facility currently unavailable at the existing stores.

Gourock man charged with assaulting two police officers

A GOUROCK man has been charged with assaulting two police officers to injury after allegedly bombarding his ex-partner with unwanted phone messages. Marc Cox, 44, is accused of struggling violently with the male PCs who had gone to his Cardwell Road home to arrest him. Prosecutors say he repeatedly kicked one officer and lashed out with his arms towards another during the alleged incident on February 8. Cox is also charged with persistently sending text messages and voicemails to his ex as well as repeatedly making phone calls to her. The Crown say he did this for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needlessly anxiety .

Officials said the water has been tested and is safe for consumption. The Boil Water Advisory was in effect for customers who lived between 0 and 3900 Highland Lick Road, 0 and 2500 Blue Hole Road, and 6000 and 9300 Allegre Road. It also included customers along Wheeler Road, Cardwell Road, R. Shanklin Road, C. Powell Road, Mitchell Road, France Road, Marvin Powell Road, Rattlesnake Road, A. Hall Road, Homer Powell Road, and S. Tucker Road.
