4 PH universities among world s top 200 universities

University of the Philippines (up.edu.ph) The 2021 QS University Rankings by Subject placed the University of the Philippines (UP) in the 101-150 rank for Politics and International studies, and the 151-200 rank for English Language and Literature, Agriculture and Forestry, and Geography. In total, UP placed 15 out of 51 disciplines, down from last year’s 18. Both the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) and De La Salle University (DLSU) ranked in four subjects each. AdMU entered the rankings in Modern Languages, 251-300; Business and Management Studies, 451-500, retaining its place in English, Language, and Literature, 201-250; and falling in Sociology, 301-320 from last year’s 251-300.

DOST-PCIEERD, Ateneo de Manila University launch Philippine Groundwater Outlook website

Published February 14, 2021, 9:40 AM The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) have launched the Philippine Groundwater Outlook (PhiGO) website, which seeks to mitigate the adverse impacts of flood and drought in selected areas in the country.  This was disclosed by DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña in his weekly report on Friday, Feb. 12. According to him, researchers from the AdMU, with the support from DOST-PCIEERD, have developed a decision support system in monitoring the groundwater quality and quantity in nine highly urbanized water critical cities in the country.

Published January 20, 2021, 4:40 PM The Department of Justice (DoJ) has filed a perjury case against Peter Joemel Advincula, alias “Bikoy,” over lies he allegedly stated in his testimonies concerning the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” video series. The DoJ filed the case last Jan. 12 before the Manila Metropolitan Trial Court (MeTC) after finding probable cause to indict him with perjury based on the complaint filed by Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) lawyers former Quezon Rep. Lorenzo “Erin” Tanada, Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno, and former Supreme Court (SC) spokesperson Theodore Te. “After a careful examination of the above affidavits and evidence attached thereto, the undersigned finds that there is sufficient evidence to conclude that the crime of violation of Articles 183 of the RPC (Revised Penal Code) has been committed,” the DoJ said in a resolution signed by Assistant State Prosecutor Ferdinand Fernandez with the approving signatures of Prosecutor General Bene
