Colorado has gone all-in to win U.S. Space Command while racking up a track record for military support unrivaled in America.
The decision on whether Colorado Springs will be the permanent home of the new command is due soon. And the city will have to figure out what comes next.
It will be hard to top 2020.
From Colorado s tennis-shoe clad governor hopping on Air Force One to personally lobby President Donald Trump to locals by the score writing the Pentagon to express support for keeping Space Command here, few things have unified the state and region quite like the fight for those 1,400 troops and their mission in orbit.
NEW WWII DUMP SITE DEVELOPMENTS IN GUAM Submitted by admin on Tue, 08/24/1999 - 00:00
HAGÃ TÃA, Guam (August 23, 1999 Â KUAM Island News) -Since the removal of metal canisters from the Santos Family ranch in Maite, the responsibility of the investigation and subsequent removal of more war-time remnants in the area has been handed from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to the Army Corps of Engineers.
This week, the process of determining whether there are in fact more remnants buried in Guam will begin.
The Governor s Base Realignment and Closure Steering Committee has said the discovery of the contaminated canisters of chemical weapons has merely skimmed the surface of a much bigger problem of military dumping, demanding that the United States Navy take full responsibility for cleaning up not only the recently discovered dump site in Maite, but dump sites islandwide.

CNN Rohingya children raised amid political turmoil have few opportunities to see themselves represented in the media. Sesame Workshop is helping to change that.
The nonprofit organization, best known for producing Sesame Street, unveiled its first Rohingya Muppets on Thursday: 6-year-old twins Noor and Aziz.
The siblings will be featured in Rohingya-language educational media along with such familiar characters as Elmo.
Rohingya children will recognize themselves in the Muppets, who live in a refugee camp in Bangladesh and are surrounded by the same culture, traditions, and language as they are.
BEAUFORT â Since 1949, South Carolina s Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island has been the only place in the country where women would earn the title held by the few and the proud.Â
But, in a historic first announced this past week, 60 female recruits will begin training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in 2021. The California military base has traditionally only trained men born west of the Mississippi River, while Parris Island trained men and women.
âIn an effort to forge Marines of the highest quality, we must give them every opportunity to succeed,â Brig. Gen. Ryan P. Heritage, the commanding general for Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, said in a news release. âThis is the first time we are able to give Marines who graduate from MCRD San Diego the same integrated experience that many of their peers at Parris Island have received already.â
