“I ended up loving the game,” Morgan said. “The feeling of the fresh air hitting my face every shift is a feeling that I’d take any day.”
Now a high school sophomore, Morgan’s zeal for the game took a hit when her club hockey team unexpectedly banned her from practice, games and team activities.

One person was taken into custody Thursday evening after shots were fired at police officers in the Chicago s West Englewood neighborhood, authorities said.

Just after midnight, a car was shot at on I-290 and crashed near the exit ramp to Damen Avenue, Illinois State Police said. The driver of the vehicle was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was listed as a 22-year-old man by the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His name hasn’t been released. Two passengers in the vehicle were also shot and taken to a hospital for treatment. The other two passengers were not injured. Troopers also found another crashed vehicle on I-290 near the Ashland Avenue exit. The vehicle was empty.

Five people were injured in a shooting early Monday on the Eisenhower Expressway.
Just after midnight, a car was shot at on I-290 near the exit ramp to Damen Avenue, Illinois State Police said.
Four people were shot and were taken to a hospital for treatment, Chicago Fire officials said.
Another person was not shot but sustained injuries and was taken to Stroget Hospital for treatment, fire officials said.
