Suffolk police treating fire above Sudbury pub as suspicious

Two children were among those evacuated from the building.  A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed that four of those checked over  by ambulance staff were later taken to West Suffolk Hospital for further treatment. Fire crews from Sudbury and Long Melford attended the fire as well as a crew from across the border from Halstead in Essex.  Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check the building and used positive pressure ventilation to help clear the smoke. The fire was extinguished shortly after 8.47am. The cause of the flat fire has not yet been confirmed.  Jack Owen, mayor of Sudbury and county councillor for the town, said that he was shocked to hear of the fire.

The incident happened some time between 3.30pm and 6pm on Wednesday, January 27, in All Saints Road. Entry was gained via the back door of the property and the bedrooms, kitchen and shed were searched in a way police have described as untidy . Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious persons or vehicles in the village on Wednesday afternoon.

A man was left shaken after he was threatened in Haverhill - Credit: Google Maps A man was left shaken after he was threatened by three men in broad daylight.  It happened at around 10.15am on Monday, January 25 in a garage block at the junction of Greenfields Way and Leiston Road, Haverhill. The victim – a man aged in his 50s – was walking to a nearby shop when he was beckoned over to a vehicle by three men. The victim headed over to the vehicle and then two of the men got out, one of which was believed to be holding a weapon. They then threatened him and demanded he hand over his money. The victim handed over a quantity of cash and the men got back in the vehicle drove away in the direction of Burton End.

Police have released CCTV in connection with a an attempted armed robbery in Stowmarket. - Credit: Suffolk Police Suffolk police has released CCTV footage to trace a man in connection with an attempted armed robbery. The incident happened on Sunday, August 30 at a shop in the town centre.  A man entered the shop and – after waiting for customers to leave – approached the counter brandishing a knife. .
