For many years the Gallup Organization has conducted nationwide surveys to determine if people are thriving, struggling or surviving. This annual poll is often identified as the happiness index and their just-released findings say we are happier than we’ve been in 13 years. In June, 59.2 percent indicated they are thriving, contrasted with only 46 percent in April of last year, when we were in the throes of COVID-19. In an Axios/Ipsos poll only 9 percent reported their mental health was worse than the week before, compared to 35 percent in March 2020. (CNN) Poll of the week: A new Gallup poll finds that 59.2% of Americans say they re thriving. Additionally, 73% of Americans said they experienced enjoyment for a lot of the previous day.
The former is the highest rating Gallup has ever recorded on the measure dating back to when it was first taken more than 13 years ago. The latter is the highest since the coronavirus pandemic began early last year.
What s the point: The last year has been tough for a lot of Americans. Among other issues, the coronavirus dominated our lives, and there was a very contentious presidential election. But with the election in the rearview mirror and more people returning to their pre-pandemic routines, Americans are feeling a lot more optimistic.
