Activists push for transformation at VGI s trophy LIC

Activists push for transformation at VGI’s trophy LIC Save Share One of the largest listed investment companies may be the latest to slip from the ASX after activist investors took aim at a $150 million shortfall between the portfolio’s assets and its share price. The VGI Partners Global Investments LIC has around $1 billion in assets, but at the start of the month traded nearly $150 million short of the sum, penalising investors from exiting and prompting a pair of activists hoping to take advantage of the mismatch. VGI Partners hedge fund managing director Rob Luciano.  David Rowe David Kingston and Malcolm McComas, two former investment bankers that have targeted other LICs over the years, have pushed for changes at the company and have suggested it converts into an unlisted trust or exchange traded fund, which would allow investors to trade their stakes closer to their full value.

Renters United spokesperson for Wellington tenants Ashok Jacob said inadequate fines are part of a broken enforcement system.

Rent caps debate garners mixed views on effectiveness Thursday, April 1, 2021 RNZ The government has not ruled out attempting to control the country s soaring rents perhaps in the form of rent caps. Finance Minister Grant Robertson said he could not predict what effect the housing package would have on rents but said the government would act if necessary. But Opposition leader Judith Collins said caps had never worked. The government needs to rule out all together rent caps and they need to actually mean it when they say it, she told  Morning Report. We have already a rental shortage. The last thing we should be doing is having fewer people wanting to be landlords or fewer people having places they can rent.
