Workshop on antimicrobial resistance concludes Islamabad March 4, 2021 Islamabad : A two-day consultative workshop focusing on the basic concepts of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), its severity, and methods to estimate AMR concluded here Wednesday, with the staff of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and other regional provincial regulatory bodies benefiting from the capacity-building activity. Organised by the UK aid-funded Fleming Fund Country Grant-DAI, the workshop was arranged to apprise the participants of the importance of AMR and the stewardship programmes that can be established to cope with issues related to AMR. In addition to the Chief Executive Officer of DRAP Asim Rauf, the workshop was addressed by Dr. Ayesha Rasheed, Team Lead of Fleming Fund Country Grant-DAI, Hafiz Alam Sher from the Provincial Pharmacovigilance Center, Punjab, Dr. Zikriya Saleem from the University of Lahore, and Dr. Huma Qureshi.

ISLAMABAD: With 1,361 new Covid-19 cases and 64 deaths reported in 24 hours, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Thursday said that Pakistan had taken the pandemic as an opportunity to accelerate efforts aimed at strengthening the health system. In the meantime, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) would now be able to engage in multidisciplinary activities regarding drugs, as the only Covid-19 vaccine tested in Pakistan, CanSino, has been officially registered in China. According to data of the National Command and Operation Centre, 230 patients were on ventilators on Thursday across the country. And most deaths, 39, were reported from Punjab, followed by 14 from Sindh.

Training held on monitoring of Covid immunisation affects Islamabad February 9, 2021 Islamabad:The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), in collaboration with World Health Organisation, arranged a one-day training session on monitoring of Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) of COVID-19 vaccine here on Monday. Representatives from the Pakistan National Pharmacovigilance Centre (PNPC), DRAP, federal and provincial Expanded Programmes on Immunization, and focal persons of pharmacovigilance from the provinces attended the training. Dr. Abdur Rashid, Director, Division of Pharmacy and Head of PNPC welcomed the participants. He briefly explained the role of DRAP in general and the Division of Pharmacy Services in particular in the process of approval of clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccines in Pakistan and subsequent monitoring of AEFIs after their registration. He also explained the role and responsibilities of each stakeholder.
