As the winter session of the Assam Assembly began on Monday, Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled a bill to repeal the provincialisation of Madrassa in the state. We ve introduced a Bill whereby all Madrassas will be converted into institutes of general education and no Madrassa will be established by the government in the future. We re happy to introduce this Bill to bring truly secular curriculum in the education system, news agency ANI quoted Himanta Biswa Sarma as saying.

Guwahati: Candidates of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) who have passed without grace marks on Monday holding a press meet at Gauri Sadan, Guwahati expressed their outrage to the Assam Education Department for giving priority to the students who have passed with grace marks over non-Grace candidates. They levelled Charges of mal-practice and corruption against the education department of Assam.
Thousands of Assam TET candidates who cleared the recently held TET exams said that almost 65-70% of the names mentioned in the list of meritorious candidates are of those who have passed with grace marks.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had chaired a meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers (CoM) on Sunday, December 13, in Guwahati where several important decisions were taken. One of them was the closing of all assam government-run madrassas & Sanskrit schools (tols), and a bill in this regard will be tabled during the winter session of the State Assembly.
